Earth Day is a great time to think about how you can help the planet. There are nationwide opportunites to volunteer and FREE activites to get the whole family interested in loving our planet. I like to walk and not drive for a day. It helps the waistline too since I'll be walking to get my favorite cupcakes! http://www.magnoliabakery.com/home.php In New York City there is a FREE concert Sunday at Noon on the Great Hill (at West 107th Street). There are also guided walking tours through some of the Central Parks hiddden gems. Visit

It's National Peanut Month! Since peanut butter is my favorite food, I couldn't resist a celebration. Suvir Saran, Executive Chef & owner of Devi, www.devinyc.com and author of Masala Farm supports US Peanut Farmers and hosted an event to celebrate the peanut. Many of Suvir's recipes include peanuts or peanut flour. If you try his fried chicken, you will be converted. Did you know you can use peanut flour to thicken a sauce or salad dressing? You can visit the National Peanut Board website to find out more about the peanut and how to add it to your diet www.nationalpeanutboard.org I found out it takes 540 peanuts to make a jar of peanut butter!! Try this recipe for Double Peanut Breakfast Bars http://nationalpeanutboard.org/rec_detail.php?rID=121&r_mCat=9&r_sCat=no If you live in New York visit Peanut Butter & Co. www.ilovepeanutbutter.com for heavenly peanut butter sandwiches and treats. I love the Elvis, a grilled peanut butter sandwich with honey, bananas and bacon. Yum!

I was invited to attend a Yoga for Foodies event In Brooklyn. The events will be taking place all throughout New York in an effort to bring exercise and eating together. The class held at Makara Studio was the perfect combination of downward dogs and healthy eating for $20. We started with an hour long class followed by dinner including Roberto's pizza, kale & sweet potato salad, roasted beets with fennel and chocolate covered apricots. The classes are geared for all levels. It really is a deal and worth every penny. Everyone goes at their own pace making it fun for all. The goal is to bring more awareness to the benefits of yoga including a peaceful mind, somthing difficult to do in this face paced world! Check out the website for more info and to join them during their next event.

Just in case you are looking for something sweet for "Fat Tuesday", try Magnolia Bakery's banana pudding. Even friends of mine that aren't banana fans love this stuff!
